Alef ~ א
"The Champion of Our Youth"
Meaning = Aluf (Champion), Ox
Gematria = 1
Sound = The letter "A" in English
Jeremiah 3:4 - “Didst though not just now cry unto Me: My Father, thou art the friend of my youth” (Alef n’ari)
Talmud says: Aluf is equivalent to G-D Himself
Gemara says: He is the Aluf of the whole world, He controls nature and all that is within the world
"He can give us strength to do things, but He is ultimately the One in control"
*I would also add that as we surrender our will to Him*
Genesis: In the beginning, He created all things ~ "Bereishit Bara Elohim"
DAM/flesh and ALUF/the Alef - a spark from above
With that in mind: We are to act in a way that represents the fact that we carry that spark within us, remembering Who it is we are representing.
Nobody knows how to say His name
He speaks to Moshe with the words: Haya Hoveh v’yiyeh “I AM beyond time, you cannot put me in any box or paradigm!”
The paradox is, look at our human body:
We have 1 body but made up of 1 billion cells - the same is true with G-D represented by the letter Alef … one letter but many components working in perfect harmony
Understanding in Judaism: Isaiah 45:7 & 8
Gematria = 1
Sound = The letter "A" in English
Jeremiah 3:4 - “Didst though not just now cry unto Me: My Father, thou art the friend of my youth” (Alef n’ari)
- The Aluf is the Father Himself
- G-D has many names in the scriptures ~ “He is the champion of our youth”
- It is not in the context of one who wins a sporting competition, but rather as the One who holds all authority and strength in His hands (Proverbs)
- The Alef is applied to Elohim
- He created Adam on the 6th day (notice there are 6 alefs in the first line of Genesis … speaking of the coming millennial reign of Messiah)
- With that in mind, "on the 7th day He rested" is a picture of that final Shabbat and entering into His eternal rest
- Father = AV (Alef, Beit) + Mother = EM (Alef, Mem) = 44 which is the equivalent of DAM - blood
- So in other words, our flesh and blood - Mother and Father
- The Alef makes all the difference!
- G-D puts a spark - the Aluf - in each of us which means that humanity has both components:
DAM/flesh and ALUF/the Alef - a spark from above
With that in mind: We are to act in a way that represents the fact that we carry that spark within us, remembering Who it is we are representing.
- The letter Alef is imprinted upon us, beginning with Adam
- Adam is fully human and yet holds within him the divine spark of G-D ~ The DNA of G-D
- When we speak about someone in a wrong way, or giving a bad report, who are we actually speaking against?
- We are all created in the shadow of the Aluf so let us remember that when we look at each other
- Rooted in the word Elef (1,000) ~ yet G-D is 1, in absolute unity! Alef & Elef is the same root!
- In this we learn the secret of 111: Alef = 1, Lamed =30, Pey = 80, TOTAL = 111 which is a very unique number
- Through this we see the paradox that G-D is in complete unity and yet He is compound in His nature Example: water, ice & steam … He is absolutely One, but He is absolutely infinite!
- G-D created good and evil, light and darkness and even HaSatan has to bow down to the Aluf!
- We still have free will, but He is in control of all things … our choices have consequences.
"Let us remember that wherever we go, whoever we go with or go to,
we each carry the divine spark of G-D which is not to be taken lightly.
We have potential to do great things with Him as His partner in building the Kingdom."
we each carry the divine spark of G-D which is not to be taken lightly.
We have potential to do great things with Him as His partner in building the Kingdom."

Connecting the dots of the Hebrew Alphabet
As I learned about this Hebrew letter, this is the connection I felt ...
Let me ask you this? Is there place for competition or jostling for place and position within the body of Mashiach? What say you? I say that all authority comes from Him and if we will look to Him as the author and finisher of our faith, HE will be sure to put us in the right place at the right time for His plans and purposes. Sometimes we can wrestle against this process, but if we will wait upon The L-RD, HE will renew our strength ... He will cause us to mount up with wings as eagles ... He will cause us to run and not grow weary ... to walk and not faint ... Amein and Amen.
What I have often found, is that when competition rules, there are often divisions, pride, and strife left foaming in its wake. Let us think about our physical body ... does our hand fight with the foot? Or does our eye fight with our ear ... if they do, something is amiss. And what about spiritually? If our hand is fighting with our foot, or our eye is fighting with our ear ... that is usually a pretty good indication that something is amiss. So ... what am I getting at? For what reason is it we are actually competing? What is the root cause as to why we feel we must compete ... is it that we don't feel enough? or good enough? have we spent a life-time feeling like we have underachieved because of others' expectations or criticisms? Or what about our own expectations and self-criticism ... even self-hatred? Our own insecurities can actually get in the way and hinder the plans and purposes of G-D for our lives. My heart's cry is that we would know what it is to KNOW we can all be winners in HIM ... BECAUSE HE IS OUR CHAMPION, just like the Hebrew letter Aluf suggests ...
Well ... the word Aluf is actually G-D Himself ... He is our Champion! He is the strength of our lives, fights our battles and longs to be the source of power within ... mighty deliverer of Israel ... in order that we can achieve His plans and purposes in this life on earth ... as individuals, yes! but also importantly as community ... not just here on earth, BUT for all eternity!!! There is no such thing as flying solo in His army, but by working together in order and with harmony we get the job done; in the same way Yeshua came down in the form of flesh and blood to accomplish the Father's will, He actually needs us in order to accomplish His will by being His hands and His feet for Kingdom plans and purposes as we seek after His heart ...
Think of a beautiful symphony, which actually means "agreement or concord of sound" ... I think of the many musicians playing one song and yet using different instruments. Each musician reading from the same song sheet ... only they recognise the difference in which dots and notes belong to them ... when they need to come in, when they need to remain silent ... when the tone needs to be soft and gentle and when the tone needs to be loud & clear ... everything strategically placed in order for the right time and space ... in order that the song will be heard exactly how it was composed and designed to be heard.
As I type, I see the "whole note" just on the horizon ... This is a hollow circle that tells the musician that the note should be held for four beats ... in 4-4 time! Well, can I tell you something amazing? When we look at the root system of Aluf and how it points all the way back to the beginning with Adam, we look to see that Adam is made up of two components ... two words ... when left on their own has a numerical value of 44, pointing to Father + Mother. BUT ... when we take the fullness of the numerical value of Adam, it actually points to "Father + Mother + G-D!!!" WOW!!! Now isn't that the way it should be from the very beginning? Husband and wife, standing together with G-D, in right relationship and with G-dly order. But we all know what happened next ... Adam "abdicated" from his role, turning his ear and eye away from the safe instruction of G-D and toward the voice of Eve who was deceived by the serpent. Disobedience brought disorder ... and the rest is history as they say ... and yet never more alive! Praise Adonai that He made a way for that which has been lost to be found ... like one pearl of great price ...
In this learning curve - speaking of going back to the beginning - in searching, I suddenly found the letter TET jumping out at me and taking my breath away ... the 9th letter in the Hebrew Alphabet. Guess what it means? FOUNDATIONS!!! My heart skipped a beat as I began to run on this trail that was blazing ahead of me ... like someone lighting up a path before me but up ahead in the distance ... like one running toward the light after stumbling around in darkness for too long ... FOUNDATIONS!!! What do you think of when you think of foundations? Physically, they support the whole of the building ... if they are strong and in right order, the building remains strong and supported. If there are faults in the foundations, it will cause disarray, weakness and disorder until eventually, the building can actually be in danger of collapsing. So ... what about spiritually ... what do we think of? What do we see?
I know of many who believe that in this walk with Yeshua, our foundations begin the day we decide to follow Him. I would like to challenge this belief and whole-heartedly disagree. I would like to say that the foundations of our lives actually begin the day we are conceived ... all we have to do is look to Psalm 139 ... and let's think about it ... is a seed not in fact living but in a dormant state until the right conditions allow it to begin to grow ... right up until the day it bursts forth up from the darkness ... hidden in the ground until the right balance of light, temperature and water begin to bring it up from under the ground ... does any of this sound familiar to you? Isaiah 11 gently blows in the breeze ... while a strong gust of Yeshua rising up from the grave blows in, taking my breath away once more ...
I wonder what the conditions of our foundations are like? What were they like from the beginning? There is so much I could say around this, but this one thing ... even two I will finish with ...
Do you know that the triangle is the strongest geometrical shape there is? I see that Father + Mother + G-D equals a strong house that cannot be easily broken ... think of the 3-fold cord that is Echad ... This is our G-D ... like a 3-fold cord who is all powerful ... and is ONE ... He cannot be separated out nor can His heart be divided. He IS ONE ... and yet 3-dimensional within One so to speak ... not sure if that is the best way to describe it, but you get the point. Are we not made in His image? But unlike Him - we are not perfect and depending on the conditions in which we were "planted" ... we can become separated out and divided in ways that I never thought possible until Hashem knocked on the doors of my heart ... each time, inviting Him in as He asked if He could enter ... I now see more clearly that He has been in the process of "surveying this property" that is called Rose ... because He was wanting to buy it back FOR ME but also for HIMSELF!!! For HIS plans and purposes. He has been gently restoring the damage that the enemy has caused through many circumstances unknown to me until He began to reveal it ... He was wanting to give it back to me as a gift ... an inheritance! And in return I long to dedicate it to Him for the work He has for me to do for His Kingdom and for His name's sake ... a covenant between my G-D and me that we would be two hearts beating as One ... ECHAD! I am merely a steward while He is the rightful owner as I invited Him to take His place ... to come sit on the throne and be "Man of the house" ... King of my heart! As He walked around, He took me by the hand and told me things I never knew ... they were hidden [Jeremah 33:3] - until such as time as this! It has been an unveiling of things that would prove to be most painful, but also trusting that as He comes in behind the veil, He will truly be revealed in a way that would prove to bring the deepest and most lasting healing for the days to come ... even for all eternity! He is Aluf ... is there anything too hard for Him? [Jeremiah 32:17 & 27]
And finally ... finally ... LOL ... Do you know that the letter Alef is taken from the root word ELEF which means 1,000? If we remember that Alef [Aluf] is G-D Himself ... we might be wondering how it is that G-D who is One can also be 1,000? It would be helpful for us to realise that He is outside of time ... He is infinite and cannot be boxed in by our time-frames, our appointments or calendars or our Greek way of thinking. The Greek way is to compartmentalise things, putting them in neat little boxes ... a bit like the Gregorian calendar most of us have been accustomed to using. G-D's calendar is so much different to ours ... and with Hebrew thinking there is a flow - just like that beautiful symphony. Life is like One melody ... with harmony ... ONE song ... the more we all begin to read from the same song sheet ... TORAH [instruction] ... the more harmonious we will become as One body ... in greater unity and less like the clanging cymbal we have been ... that we would truly become One New Man in Mashiach ... ECHAD ...
SHALOM SHALOM!
