Gematria = 7 which is the number of completion
Sound = "Z"
Pictorially = Sword or a weapon (victory)
The Rabbis link the shape of Zayin to the staff of Moses
- Moses used it for the miracles in Egypt and especially when it turned into a serpent.
beginning of the book we also find at the end of the book in Revelation.]
- The word serpent in Hebrew is Nachash נַחָשׁ with a Gematria of 358.
- This has the same Gematria as Mashiach מַשָׁיח Messiah!
The letter Zayin, the number 7 and its prophetic significance:
- It is pointing to the End-Times as discussed in the article on Shemini Atzeret.
- We are in the year 5781 approaching 6000 before entering the 7th Millennium.
The Mystery of Zayin
- The Shabbat and Zayin are connected with Shabbat being the 7th Day.
- The Rabbis in Talmud Shabbat 118a states: “He who observes [the practice of] three meals on the Sabbath is saved from three evils: the travails of the Messiah, the retribution of Gehinnon, and the wars of Gog and Magog.”
- We are actually preparing for the coming of The Messiah when every day will be as a Shabbat
The connection to Shabbat ~ The 7th Day and The 3 Meals
Let us look together in the book of Sh'mot [also known as Exodus] which means "Names" Chapter 16 verse 25
ה אכלהו היום כי־שׁבת היום ליהוה היום לא תמצאהו בשׂדה׃ ויאמר משׁ
VaYomer Moshe ichluhu HaYom Ki-Shabbat HaYom HaShem HaYom Lo Timitzuhu Besadeh
- And Moses said: 'Eat it today; for today is a Sabbath unto the LORD; you will not find it today on the plain
- HaYom [today] is mentioned 3 times to represent the 3 meals of Shabbat [the 7th day] and the Merit of the 3 Patriarchs
1st Meal ~ Merit of Isaac [Friday evening, also known as erev Shabbat]
- Isaac was bound and willing to be sacrificed reminding us that we need a mediator - one who is willing to stand in the gap between us and God so that we may enter into the Kingdom of God.
2nd Meal ~ Merit of Abraham
- In this meal we remember Abraham who was willing to take his son up the hill and sacrifice him
- Dagger [of Abraham] is called in Hebrew Machelet מַאכְלֶת rooted in the word אכְלֶ akal to devour, eat, consume. It is not a dagger as we know it, but actually a feeding knife.
- And therefore it is understood that "all of Israel eats from the knife that Abraham used to sacrifice Isaac"
- Known as The Meal of Messiah ... Why?
- Because it is understood that Messiah will rule between the years 6,000-7,000
- He will return to rule in the 7th Millinium, when we will experience The Final Shabbat.
Liturgy
- Interesting that we see a reflection of this within the Liturgical prayers
- The first benediction of the Amida [the standing/silent prayer] is called The Avot which means fathers [ click here to find out more ]
- When reciting this prayer, we are remembering that we enter the Kingdom through the merit of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob ... but ultimately Yeshua HaMashiach!
